Fake Slenderman is not the real Slenderman, but someone in a costume. The cast, who were fans of the story of Slenderman, put fake Slenderman sightings into their videos for fun, to potentially attract viewer hits, and as a form of "easter egg" for their videos. We know from his appearance in Healthy Eating that it was planned for Daniel to play the Fake Slendy role, in that video at least. It is unconfirmed whether Daniel was always the Fake Slendy or whether others sometimes wore the costume. The Hybrids state in the video Public Service Announcement that they have no plans to parse the videos and point out to the audience which appearances of Slenderman were real and which were faked. It is speculated that the fake was most likely the trigger for the true Slenderman's appearence.
